SYTAR
The International Association of
Yoga Therapists Convention was held
in March. Molly Hagan, Kristin Kreiger,
Gretchen Kreiger, Fumi Naughton and
Maggie Roiphe accompanied Linda Lack
Ph.D. to portray TBFM. The presentation
went so very well. We were pleased
to be at an event that is the caliber
of this conference and that embraced
people from all over the world. We
were included in April 2009 L.A. Yoga’s
documentation of the event (we are
inserting the photos and article from
that magazine below)

TBFM IN THE DANCE
COMMUNITY
TBFM definitely has a current presence
in the dance community. From within
that community, Lack was nominated
for a Lester Horton Award for solo
performance in Spirit Wolf. The
dance was also nominated for Eileen
Cooley’s lighting design. Linda
believes that it is her commitment
to TBFM that has and will continue
to support the possibility of inhabiting
stages well into the sixth decade of
her life.

Many more dance world folks are turning
to the technique for physical and aesthetic
sustainability. We’re honored
and pleased to have the attention of
Nehara Kalev from Catch Me Bird Dance
Theatre, Lisa Moffie who was originally
trained in ballet technique, Lee Werbel
who has a modern dance background from
UCLA, and Linda Medland revisiting
the technique from the Centrum/Port
Townsend dance program. Now she travels
to Los Angeles from British Columbia.
SHOULDER GIRDLE
WORKSHOP
Dr. Lack presented Shoulder Girdle
material through the perspective of
The Thinking Body – The Feeling
Mind ® to Larry Payne’s Level
II Yoga Therapy students. She is honored
to be invited to be on the faculty
of the first University approved certification
program for Yoga Therapists in the
USA beginning in 2010.
NEW
SHOULDER GIRDLE CD
We have a new CD with/for background
material and principles of Shoulder
Girdle health and usage available for
$25.00.

We are working on the Psoas CD at
this moment.
PEARL
LANG and MARION SCOTT
In New York, Lack was the main presenter
at Pearl Lang’s (distinguished
Martha Graham dancer, choreographer,
teacher) funeral. Lack is a ritualist
and thus is committed to movement/dance
whenever she speaks or lectures. She
will be present for the Pearl Lang
Memorial at the Joyce Theatre again
in New York and was also deeply honored
when her mentor Allegra Fuller Snyder
invited her to be a speaker/mover at
the Marion Scott Memorial. It was a
beautiful celebration of Marion Scott’s
life. It is not only important to honor
and acknowledge dancers/movers/teachers
who have been our mentors but it has
been important to look backwards to
the seed bed of where and why TBFM
was created in order to understand
how to look forward. Since the visit
with Edward Villella, the stars and
principle dancers of the Graham Company,
the remembrance of the often harsh
reality of Marion Scott’s journey
within her body and Bradley Michaud’s
comments at the Horton Awards regarding
sacrificing the body on behalf of Art,
Lack is concerned but inspired and
recommitted to sharing/disseminating
TBFM with/for more folks – and
not only professional movers – everyone
who needs and wants a long term functional
ride in the body. POSSIBILITIES RATHER
THAN LIMITATIONS!
ONGOING
Ongoing technique classes and workshops
at the studio are currently being taught
in the context of acknowledging the
Shoulder Girdle’s relationship
to the Psoas. We are now also relating
the leg to the function of both of
the other body sites.
IDYLLWILD THIS
YEAR
Many have asked about Idyllwild TBFM
Intensive for this year. We are in
the process of working out details
for October. We hope to offer more
sections, classes and levels this year.

ANNA
SINGLETON
Anna Singleton is stable and still
doing TBFM reclining! She says it is
important to “keep on keepin’ on”.
POSSIBILITIES RATHER THAN LIMITATIONS!
