Yoga in the Pines
September 4-7 marks
the first “Yoga
in the Pines” seminar in Idyllwild
California. Students and teachers are
coming from Malaysia, Texas, Portland,
Los Angeles and we hope to involve
some of the Idyllwild residents. We
are planning to be involved with practice/technique
but also dialogues about anatomy, kinesiology
and pedagogy. There will be a spectrum
of levels and experience from folks
who have never participated in The
Thinking Body-The Feeling Mind® to
teachers who have taught the technique
for many years. We are pleased to say
that all of the teachers will be in
Idyllwild, but that necessitates closing
the studio from Thursday, Sept.
4, through Saturday, Sep. 6.
Of course we will adjust class cards!
We are doing a sculpture garden Art
walk and a community dinner as part
of the Idyllwild retreat. Please sign
up to be included.
Anna Singleton
Anna is doing well
and thanks everyone who participated
in her retirement luncheon for all
of the love and support. She said it
was one of the most wonderful days
of her life! She is of course
doing class once a week and she practices
at home on her own. We are still calling
on her to come bail us out when we
have questions about what goes on in
the “back of the studio.”
Linda Lack to
perform Spirit Wolf in LA
Linda
Lack is joining 9 other performers
on Saturday Sept.13 at the
Nate Holden Performing Arts Center,
4718 W. Washington Blvd, LA, to honor
Edward Villella, a ballet luminary,
and Terri Best a distinguished teacher.
Lack will perform Spirit
Wolf. We would be grateful for
your attendance and support. For tickets
call (800) 595-4tix or visit ladanceinvitational.org.
Symposium for Yoga
Therapy and Research
We
are honored to be invited to be a
presenter at the Symposium for Yoga
Therapy and Research (SYTAR) in March
of 2009. This is a convention sized
gathering and we will provide the
following:
Practice Session
#10: Shoulder Girdle and Neck
The Thinking Body-The Feeling Mind®
is a movement based exploration of
the mind/body and theory/practice connection
and continuum. This session (track)
is an experiential anatomical movement
clinic that considers both body mechanics
and emotional/life style affects on
the area. Expanded Yoga based alternatives
for Shoulder Girdle and Neck sustainability,
prophylactic health care and injury
resolution will be offered. The session
is useful for Yoga practitioners, therapists/teachers
and their clients/students.
Yoga Therapy Certification
Program
March of 2009 we are also on
faculty again with Loyola Marymount
University’s Yoga Therapy Certification
Program. Our topic is again Neck and
Shoulder Girdle.
Lower Arm and Hand
Before
2008 is done, we will take some of
the clinic/lecture weekends to focus
on the lower arm and hand because
we see the need for this in the extended
community.
End of the Year Gathering
Our December Workshop
and End of the Year gathering is on
Sunday, Dec. 14. Place it on
your calendars now. It’s wonderful
to have everyone join us!
Fumi Naughton,
New TBFM Teacher
We celebrate Fumi
Naughton, who has become one of the
teachers qualified to teach The Thinking
Body-The Feeling Mind®.
Know that we are in the process of
spending considerable time and energy
directed toward renewing The Thinking
Body-The Feeling Mind® trademark
so that future generations of teachers
and practitioners have the protective
umbrella that we all work under.
