 LINDA
LACK, Ph.D. has
dedicated her life and work to
the study of the human body, movement,
breath and their relationship to
creativity, healing and spirituality.
She is a movement therapist/specialist,
yoga teacher, lecturer and Arts-Based
Researcher. Lack has been the primary
soloist and choreographer of the
mask – dance rituals she
has created, both on stages and
in the wilderness.
Lack has spent 40 years developing “THE
THINKING BODY – THE FEELING
MINDTMSM,” a technique
that uses yoga, ancient and modern
dance and meditation to help people
deal with stress, dis-ease, physical/emotional
and spiritual self development. The
teaching promotes optimum human performance,
possibility and well being. “THE
THINKING BODY – THE FEELING
MINDTMSM” embraces
all cultures, generations, classes,
spiritual/religious affiliations,
body types and shapes. It is inclusive
of everyone from the disabled to
professional dancers and athletes
who have been accepted into Alvin
Ailey II, Cirque du Soleil, Juilliard
and Cal Arts. The technique is taught
and practiced at Lack’s studio in
Los Angeles and in Malaysia, Europe,
Mexico, Central America, and throughout
the United States. Lack trains and
certifies Yoga Teachers and Movement
Therapists. She has traveled all
over the world to study ancient and
modern day movement techniques and
rituals.
Lack has been funded and acknowledged
by The Rockefeller Foundation, The
National Endowment for the Arts,
The California Arts Council, Samadha
International Healing Awards, The
Los Angeles Area Dance Alliance Awards
for Innovative Choreography and LACE
award in the category of Spirituality
for her significant contribution
to spiritual growth and well being
in the Los Angeles community.
Lack believes that the basic human
impulses of movement and breath are
profound pathways into healing, creativity
and spirit. She “lives” her
belief daily. |
